Meet Richard

Sr. Mortgage Advisor, Richard Cannavaro was born in NY and raised in CT where he grew up with his younger brother and sister who have always played a very influential role in his life. He calls himself a “true New Englander” loving everything the region has to offer, especially the four very different seasons. Rick is a proud graduate of Danbury High School and Western Connecticut State University where he studied psychology and finance. Rick’s first job was working for Stew Leonard’s, which taught him about the importance of customer service which has remained with him throughout his entire professional career and now represents what he feels is the key to earning repeat business.

Rick’s best friend recognized how his skillset was a perfect match for the mortgage industry, and after a little encouragement, Rick was hired by his first company in May of 2000 as a Loan Opener and Processor. His friend’s assessment was spot on as Rick experienced the entire lending process, and he moved quickly into loan origination which has become his true passion ever since. “Assisting buyers with the largest investment in their life is extremely rewarding to me, especially when clients take the time to share such kind reviews online.”  Rick has been honored by earning the distinction of being voted a Five-Star Mortgage Professional eleven years in a row. Whether he is working with a first-time buyer who needs careful guidance from start to finish, or refinancing a repeat client to save money, Rick is fueled by his passion for financing the American Dream of becoming a successful homeowner.

In the summer of 2026, Rick made his move to join Province Mortgage Associates because he wanted to become part of a smaller, well-respected company with a culture of family that offers all of the necessary tools he needs to be a successful mortgage advisor. Even though he only plays a few rounds a year, he loves to golf and spends a lot of time at the gym which keeps him in check when he goes for long walks or when he decides to take on an occasional 5k obstacle course.
