About Ruth

Mortgage Advisor, Ruth Fortune was born and raised in the Silver Lake area of Providence, RI. Growing up with her brother and sister, she attended Alan Shawn Feinstein High School and was a major player on the debate club that competed all over the United State and Canada. Ruth’s true passion in her younger years was reflected in her over 2000 hours of volunteer work, lifting up the spirits of kids and seniors through the use of therapy pets. She also worked extensively with the Special Olympics. In 2012, Ruth graduated from Lee University with her bachelor’s degree in political science and a minor in theology. After college, she spent the first 8 years of her professional career working for Massachusetts General Hospital in their emergency room department as a Unit Secretary where she learned a lot about the value of patience. “People that come into the emergency are experiencing some really low times. You need to listen to their story to help, and I enjoyed being there for those who were struggling.”

Right before the pandemic in 2020, Ruth and her husband purchased their first multi-family home with the intention of building wealth using real estate. Their mortgage lender left them with a lot of unanswered questions and an overall mortgage experience that was less than stellar. This inspired Ruth to do some research in 2020 and realized that her next career would be in the mortgage industry. She enrolled in the Rhode Island Mortgage Bankers Association mortgage education program at the Community College of RI and began her career as a Jr. Processor with Embrace Home Loans. “I love the feeling of helping someone from application to closing knowing the role I play in their personal success.

As a mortgage professional, I am able to serve my community by helping people build wealth through real estate.” Ruth also works extremely well with Realtors®, building trust together and delivering value with outstanding communication while acting as a mentor in growing their business. Ruth made her move to Province Mortgage Associates in 2023 because she was looking for a company that reflects that same community she loves so much. “Province is known for their unprecedented peer support which will translate into my ability to better help the people in my community.” Regional Sales Manager, Tim Johnson shared, “Ruth’s genuine passion for helping buyers and homeowners in the communities she serves is identical to the core values we live here at Province.” Ruth is Haitian American, and her husband was raised in the Dominican Republic which is the reason you hear English, Spanish, and Creole spoken around throughout their home. When Ruth is not helping her valued clients, you can find her and her husband shouting, “Let’s go” as they pack their car with their twin boys and two girls on their way to their favorite local beach.
